A resident of Zaporizhzhia will face trial for stealing nearly 300,000 UAH from a former military member via online banking.

Prosecutors from the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office in Zaporizhzhia have submitted an indictment to the court against a local resident for theft and unauthorized interference with the operation of information (automated) systems, as well as for the legalization (money laundering) of property obtained through criminal means (Part 4 of Article 185, Part 5 of Article 361, Part 1 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
В Запорожье местный житель украл у бывшего военного почти 300 тыс. грн через интернет-банкинг и предстанет перед судом.

The investigation revealed that a resident of Zaporizhzhia with a criminal background took advantage of a lost SIM card belonging to a citizen and gained access to the victim's mobile banking app, allowing him to manage the account.

Subsequently, the man transferred the available funds from the account to his own controlled accounts and withdrew cash at ATMs in Zaporizhzhia. It was discovered that the nearly 300,000 UAH stolen in this manner belonged to a serviceman who had left the Armed Forces due to injury.

Currently, by court order, the suspect is in custody.
