A resident of Zaporizhzhia is suspected of stealing nearly 300,000 UAH from a former soldier through online banking.

According to the investigation, a previously convicted resident of Zaporizhzhia took advantage of a lost SIM card belonging to a citizen and gained access to the victim's banking mobile app, allowing him to manage the victim's account.

The man later transferred the available funds from his account to accounts under his control and withdrew cash from ATMs in Zaporizhzhia. It turned out that the nearly 300,000 UAH stolen in this manner belonged to a military serviceman who had left the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to injuries.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office in Zaporizhzhia, a local resident has been charged with theft and unauthorized interference in the operation of information (automated) systems, which led to the leakage of information (Part 4 of Article 185, Part 5 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, by court order, the suspect is in custody.
