A 47-year-old man from Zaporizhia was sentenced to 15 years in prison for murdering his father-in-law out of revenge.
In August 2017, the accused went to the home of the parents of a woman with whom he had a close relationship to resolve some issues. While standing near the entrance of their house, he began to stab the victim in various parts of the body. Due to significant blood loss, the man died at the scene.

The press service of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this.
During the court proceedings, the accused denied his guilt in the intentional murder, justifying his actions as a necessity for self-defense. However, the prosecutor demonstrated the baselessness of this claim.
The court found the man guilty of intentionally murdering an elderly person with particular cruelty (paragraph 4 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and the civil claim of the victim for compensation of moral damage exceeding 1 million UAH was upheld.
