A hotel employee was held hostage and threatened with a grenade; law enforcement in Dnipro successfully rescued the man.

Yesterday, on February 23, the police received a report that a hotel guest had summoned a staff member to his room under the pretense of needing assistance. Once the staff member arrived, the guest began to threaten him with a knife and demanded that he hand over the panic button. Additionally, he threatened to detonate explosives.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

After negotiations with the perpetrator, the victim managed to exit the premises. Currently, he is doing well. Special forces detained the suspect, who turned out to be a 56-year-old resident of another region. A search was conducted in the premises, and a knife was seized. No explosive devices were found.

The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Today, February 24, the detained individual was informed of the suspicion under part 1 of Article 146 (illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
