Attempted to negotiate a "green corridor" for five draft evaders with a border guard for $5,000: a criminal case has been opened.

A 47-year-old resident of the border area set up a channel for the illegal transportation of men to Romania and decided to involve a border guard from the Izmail unit. For $5,000, he intended to negotiate with the border officer to assist five men, aged between 20 and 48, in illegally crossing the border into the neighboring country.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service press office.

The organizer used his own "Mersedes" vehicle to transport them to the designated location near the border and prepared inflatable boats for the "passengers" to reach Romania via the Danube. During the execution of operational information, the perpetrator and five men were apprehended.

Protocols for administrative offenses were drawn up against the violators for attempting to cross the border illegally under part 2 of Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

A criminal proceeding has been initiated against the scheme's organizer under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine") and under part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Offering, promising, or providing unlawful benefits to a public official"). He faces up to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
