Zaporizhzhia police have apprehended a criminal who robbed an elderly woman.

In the Dnipro district, a local resident stole money from a pensioner near an ATM and fled the scene. Police officers tracked down the perpetrator and informed him of the charges against him. He faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison for his actions.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zaporizhia region reported this.

On October 14, an 84-year-old woman from Zaporizhia contacted the police, stating that she had fallen victim to a robbery. According to the victim, at 2:20 PM, she was withdrawing money from an ATM when an unknown man approached her, pushed her aside, causing the money to scatter. The man grabbed several bills and fled, leaving the victim with a loss of 3,400 hryvnias.

The perpetrator turned out to be a 47-year-old man with a previous criminal record. Police recovered the stolen money from his residence.

The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and was charged with committing a crime as outlined in Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
