A man offered help but deceived an elderly woman: police in the Nikopol district uncovered a fraudster.
On January 7, the police department No. 2 of the Nikopol District Police received a report about an unknown man who had stolen a bag from a woman who uses a walker. A police investigative team was dispatched to the scene. It was determined that the elderly woman was walking from the local market to the public transport stop when a man approached her. Under the pretense of helping her carry her shopping bags to the bus, the perpetrator took advantage of the trusting woman and stole her belongings.

Law enforcement officials have identified the perpetrator. He is a 41-year-old man previously convicted of property crimes. Some of the stolen items have been returned to the owner.
On January 20, investigators notified the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 190 (fraud committed repeatedly) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty is three years of imprisonment.
