In Dnipropetrovsk, a crime boss and two deputies were arrested for demanding $60,000 for a non-existent debt.

According to the investigation, a previously convicted member of the criminal underworld, along with two current deputies who manage municipal enterprises, systematically extorted a non-existent debt of $60,000 from a former deputy mayor of a city in the region.

This was reported by the press service of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The suspects threatened the victim and his family members with physical harm and property destruction. It has been established that the individuals involved, along with unidentified persons, threw stun grenades into the yard to intimidate the former official and also set fire to his house and vehicles.

Under severe psychological pressure and fearing for his life and health, the victim agreed to pay the suspects a portion of a "debt" amounting to 22 thousand US dollars. After the transfer of the agreed sum, they were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Currently, three individuals have been informed of their suspicion for extortion committed under martial law by a group of individuals in conspiracy (Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
