The SBU has arrested the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who amassed over $1 million since the onset of the full-scale war.

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine have detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces, who also serves as the deputy head of the Central Military Medical Commission and is responsible for assessing the fitness of military personnel for service. During the full-scale invasion, this official accumulated unjustified assets exceeding $1 million.

This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

According to the investigation, from 2022 to 2024, the suspect acquired:

  • a private house in the Obukhiv district of Kyiv region;

  • 2 apartments in Kyiv;

  • 1 apartment in Odesa;

  • 2 land plots in the Obukhiv district of Kyiv region;

  • BMW X7 2024 model;

  • BMW X7 2022 model;

  • BMW X5 2023 model;

  • BMW X3 2022 model;

Additionally, during searches at the suspect's premises, $152,000 and €34,000 were found.

The suspect is currently being prepared for a notification of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Art. 368-5 (illegal enrichment);

  • Art. 366-2 (declaration of false information).

The sanctions for these articles provide for penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
