The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an order initiating the process of designating the Yemeni movement "Ansar Allah" (Houthis) as a foreign terrorist organization. This was reported by UNN citing the White House website.

Details

It is noted that the actions of the Houthis pose a threat to the safety of American civilians and personnel in the Middle East, the security of nearby regional partners, and the stability of global maritime trade.

The document states that the Iran-backed group "Ansar Allah" has fired upon U.S. Navy vessels dozens of times since 2023 in the waters of the Red Sea. Thus, the Houthis have "created a danger for American men and women in uniform."

"The policy of the United States is to work with its regional partners to eliminate the capabilities and operations of 'Ansar Allah', deprive it of resources, and thereby stop its attacks on American personnel and civilians," the statement reads.

Recall

Donald Trump reversed Biden's recent decision to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Biden's decision was part of an agreement with the Catholic Church regarding the release of 553 political prisoners.
